Focus:  

Following a successful collaboration between UN Tourism and Qatar Tourism, a new project for the organization of the second Qatar Tourism Awards is now underway.  

The Qatar Tourism Awards aim to honour innovation and distinction in Qatar's tourist industry, in addition to endeavouring to increase awareness of Qatar as a sustainable tourism destination. The Awards play a significant role in showcasing successful tourism experiences and providing appropriate recognition to the significant efforts of a variety of stakeholders in offering exceptional experiences to the visitors across the entire end-to-end visitor journey. 

Highlights: 

During the current UN Tourism mission, an extensive revision of the criteria and sub-criteria for the Awards programme was conducted. The main goal is to ensure that we are recognizing and celebrating all activities related to the tourism journey.   

To achieve this goal, discussion sessions were held with all related departments within Qatar Tourism to ensure the involvement of the entire team working with tourism activities and obtain accurate and insightful feedback on the criteria and categories.   

These revisions allowed identifying any gaps within the categories from the Qatar Tourism perspective, providing a sense of ownership, and ensuring that all are aligned with the goals and objectives of the Awards, leading to enhancing the programme and better showcasing the incredible tourism experiences that Qatar has to offer.

The date of the press conference for the launch of the Awards Application Portal will be announced shortly. The portal will provide a streamlined and efficient way for individuals and organizations to submit their applications for the Awards programme.
